It is the first time that an Italian university museum has participated in Museomix, a creative and multidisciplinary laboratory conceived in France to rethink the way of experiencing museums, widespread in Italy thanks to BAM! Cultural strategies.
There are only two museums selected for the 2019 edition of Museomix Italia: the anthropological one in Florence and the Museum of the City of Ancona.
This is a three-day creative marathon, during which communicators, designers, makers, computer programmers, collection experts and cultural mediators work together inside the museum with the aim of transforming it into a creative workshop, where innovative tools are designed and implemented, useful to improve the use and involve new audiences.
This year the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnology will celebrate the 150th anniversary of its foundation. The decision to apply for a "remix" stems from the desire to open up the dialogue and exchange of ideas with a wider and more diversified audience, through a critical study of the past and a look towards an open, civil and intercultural future.
The museum will participate in the MuseoMix together with the cultural association Forme, committed to spreading contemporary art in the Florentine area and promoting emerging artists.
In the months coming up to the MuseoMix, to be held in November, the Museum of Anthropology and Forme will organize a number of "Antropomix", events open to the public designed to bring citizens, students and foreign communities closer together, with the aim of raising awareness of the collections and to encourage the widest participation in the revitalization and 'contemporarization' process of the museum.
