The Museum of Anthropology has contributed to the realization of the “Ex-Africa. Stories and Identity of a Universal Art" set up at the Museo Civico Archeologico of Bologna from 28 March to 8 September 2019.
The University Museum System has loaned some of the most precious works of African sculptural art: from the Afro-Portuguese ivories of the 16th century, once belonging to the Medici collections, to the wooden sculptures typical of the Central African art of the Luba people.
The exhibition, curated by Ezio Bassani and Gigi Pezzoli, presents the value of African art from its origins to the influence it exerted on European painting at the beginning of the 20th century and on contemporary African art.
