The Museums's fossils at the Uffizi

The Museum System at the exhibition on the Leicester Codex

As part of the celebrations for the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci, the Museum System of the University - Museum of Geology and Paleontology was invited to take part in the great exhibition L’acqua microscopio della natura. Il Codice Leicester di Leonardo da Vinci (The water microscope of nature. The Leicester Codex of Leonardo da Vinci) curated by Paolo Galluzzi, realized by Gallerie degli Uffizi and Museo Galileo with the contribution of Fondazione CR Firenze, a top preview for the celebrations of Leonardo.

This exceptional event brings to Florence the Leicester Codex, a dense work of brilliant annotations and extraordinary drawings produced between 1504 and 1508, with many references to geology and fossils.

The exhibition also includes two exhibits from our paleontological collections. The exhibition catalogue includes a contribution on Leonardo and the fossils curated by Elisabetta Cioppi and Stefano Dominici.
