Sounds and cultures at the Museum of Anthropology

"Musica dal Profondo" kicks off starting Tuesday, May 8, at Palazzo Non Finito, home of the Museum of Anthropology. It is a sound journey into the musical depths of human history in four episodes. The talks will take place every Tuesday during the month of May at 9 pm.

The first talk, delivered by the curator of the programme, Stefano Zenni, a professor at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory of Florence, is dedicated to recent scientific discoveries on the music of homo sapiens.

Two sound episodes will take us to the discovery of the sounds of North India and of Africa, on Tuesday, May 15th and Tuesday, May 29th respectively, with live performances using original instruments.

The guided tour of the Museum, scheduled for Tuesday, May 22, by reservation and with an entrance fee, will be dedicated to instruments from cultures around the world.  A further opportunity to learn about the richness of the musical heritage of different cultures and to question stereotypes.

On Sunday, May 20 at 11, there is also an educational workshop, dedicated to children and their families. The workshop is on request and subject to a fee.
